The Corporate Apartment Extracts from early e-mail in March '98:
"Ahh, home sweet home. Sapient has put us up in a very up market, furnished, one bedroom corporate apartment. We have all the conveniences: a garbage disposal (just like in the movies), which you use to dice organic rubbish and is built into the sink, a microwave, oven, a tv, fridge and dishwasher!!!. All the switches work the wrong way (up is on and down is off) and there are cleaners that come in once a week".

If the stairs don't get you the splashing water will

"Chad and I purchased two bikes, seeing that we do not have a car and the exercise would do us well. And it would be our only means of transport to the shops, seeing that our new place will not be directly on a bus route. It just so happened that they are identical blue his and her’s bikes and you guys better not rag me about this, the shop only had them in blue. So here Chad and I went on our first attempt after about 15 years, fortunately there were no fatalities but we are bound to have bums as blue as our bikes."

Chad, miserable at 2 am, trying to get all the stuff together for the move to Bay Landing.

I'm tired and I wanna go to bed

"Ons trek 3 Mei in ons eie plekkie in. Dit is 'n baie oulike plek (Bay Landing), in die voorstad Walnut Creek so 40 minute uit SF per moltrein. Al is dit ver is dit die enigste plekkie waar daar tuine en gras is, die groot stad is net beton en blompotte en die ander goedkoper voorstede sal hilbrow na 'n parkie laat lyk. Dit is ook heelwat rustiger as die gejaagde atmosfeer in SF self. Daar is net een probleem met Walnut Creek en dit is dat jy moet rondtrippel tussen die slakke, jig!!! Gelukkig is die tuin nie ons probleem nie."
